Lee & Kan was initially established in early 1989 when two long established London base firms, Lee & Co and T.Y.C Kan & Co merged to form the basis of the present practice.
We are broadly a commercially orientated firm and provide a full range of legal services both to corporate as well as to private clients.
We aim to give the best possible service to our clients, whether the matter be long and complex or short and straightforward.

The work undertaken in this area includes company and business acquisitions and disposals, partnerships, company re-organisations, foreign company incorporation and administration, advice on insolvency, as well as company secretarial work.
In addition, we also undertake various other company commercial works on an ad hoc basis according to the nature of our clients’ requirements. In short, we aim to provide a full comprehensive service to our Clients in the context of company commercial work.
We have extensive experience in all forms of commercial and business property work and act on behalf of various banks and commercial clients.
The work includes acquisitions and disposals of freehold and leasehold offices and suites as well as property development and business property matters.
We have experience in employment disputes and advise on all aspects of employment law.
This includes industrial tribunal applications, executive service contracts, advice on employment terms and conditions.
We also assist in preparing and drafting employment contracts as well as employees’ handbooks which may be obligatory in certain circumstances for corporate clients.
We undertake most High Court and County Court litigation matters and our aim is to resolve disputes, avoiding legal action wherever necessary, to our clients’ maximum commercial advantage.
We aim to resolve matters without the need of expensive litigation.
We undertake work concerning simple debt collection matters to assist our clients in collecting slow paying receivables.
We are experienced to immigration work and undertake all forms of work relating to immigration law.
This includes obtaining immigration consents, work permits and permanent residence status in a rapid and cost effective manner.
We act for a number of banks and are thus able to give advice on banking arrangements and documentation. Work undertaken in this area includes the following:
- Facility letters and similar loan agreements;
- Security by way of charge over land, commercial property, business assets, cash, shares etc.;
- Trade finance, in particular by way of negotiable instruments and letters of credit; and
- Syndicated loans and participation.
We advise on UK Law and practice relating to all common methods of investments in UK businesses including joint ventures and partnerships.
In this respect, we are able to advise on UK Law and practice in relation to the acquisition of private companies and of undertakings.
We also advise on UK Law and practice in connection with the acquisition or disposal of large properties, including:
- use, zoning and other official authorisations; and
- project finance.
We advise on the taxation aspects of work we undertake where necessary and on forms of assistance available from the UK government and its agencies.
We are also experienced in criminal matters and work undertaken covers both “white collar” and “blue collar” crime. This includes fraud, corruption, extradition matters, immigration, drugs, assault and road traffic cases, police enquiries, etc.
We also undertake Legal Aid work in appropriate cases.
This area of work includes inter alia, probate work, the preparation and drafting of wills as well as assisting clients with personal legal problems, e.g.:
- Immigration;
- Education;
- Residential accommodation;
- Motoring offences, etc.
